You’re at home. You have more time (maybe, maybe not).
Even though I am one of the lucky ones to still be working (from home) during this safe at home time it seems I should have more time to be doing things for myself. At least I’m saving time by not commuting to the office in LA traffic.
In my last post I talked about the importance of structuring your time while at home. Today it’s about what to do with your time.
One of the things I teach my clients is the importance of SUBLIMATION. Basically, that is the idea of distracting yourself. When you are under stress or are having a problem or worry on your mind it never helps to sit and ruminate in the negative.
So sometimes it is best to get yourself busy. I would say this is one of those times.
Getting busy with self care activities is important. And there can be all sorts of self care activities.
You can do productive activities like cleaning out a junk drawer or closet, or scrapbooking and organizing all those photos, or doing one small step on a project you have been avoiding.
And then…
You can do pampering activities like take a warm bubble bath, trim or paint your nails, if there is someone else in your house take 10 minutes to give each other a shoulder rub.
And then…
You can do downtime activities like play a video game, relax to some great music, watch TV, read a great book or magazine.
I am including a link to a great self care activity list that will give you even more ideas. Some of the things on the list can’t be done right now due to social distancing but there are a lot of other great ideas to.
Stay safe and happy,
Deborah
